‘The Lady of the Sorrows’

by Cecilia Dart-Thornton. Melbourne based author Cecilia Dart-Thornton was discovered through an internet-based writing competition. Her debut novel ‘The Ill-Made Mute,’ so impressed publishers in the US that the book was published straight into hardback, something that had never been done before with a first time author. Critics around the globe lavish praise on her the deliciously complex plots, her multi-dimensional characters and her abundantly descriptive style. And fans of mainstream fantasy fiction adore her.

‘The Lady of the Sorrows,’ the sequel to ‘The Ill-Made Mute,’ is packed with Dart-Thornton’s trademarked style – fantastic magical worlds inhabited by enchanted and enchanting beings. Dart-Thornton’s work has been likened to fantasy great Tolkien, and it’s no surprise to lean that the author of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ has been a huge inspiration to her.

“Reading ‘The Lord of the Rings’ at the age of nine made a huge impact on my life. To this day, it remains my favourite story of all time, and is one of the three reasons I am irresistibly drawn to write in the fantasy/sword-and-sorcery genre,” she says.

‘The Lady of the Sorrows’ is available now in all good bookstores for RRP$25.00.
